Ace in the Hole – 1951 (DVD)

Brand new case. Disc in mint condition.

Ace in the Hole, directed by Billy Wilder, is a dark and biting film that stars Kirk Douglas as Charles “Chuck” Tatum, a down-and-out journalist desperate for a big story. He finds his chance in a small New Mexico town, where a man is trapped in a cave. Seeing the potential for sensationalism, Tatum manipulates the situation, prolonging the rescue effort to fuel his own career ambitions, all while exploiting the victim and his family. The film is a scathing critique of media sensationalism, greed, and the lengths people will go to in pursuit of fame. With sharp dialogue and Douglass intense performance, Ace in the Hole remains a searing commentary on the corrosive power of the press.
